The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas has announced that it will remain open despite the ongoing partial federal government shutdown. The court stated that it continues to handle bankruptcy cases, accept new filings, process pleadings and fees, and conduct hearings as scheduled.
According to the court, parties involved in bankruptcy matters should be ready to attend all scheduled hearings unless an extension is granted by the court for good cause. The Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system remains operational and continues to accept electronic submissions.
Additionally, both the public counter and telephone lines for the Bankruptcy Court are operating according to their usual schedules.
“The District of Kansas Bankruptcy Court remains open and continues to adjudicate bankruptcy matters, accept new case filings, receive and process pleadings and fees, and hear matters. Parties and their representatives should be prepared to appear for all matters that have been and will be scheduled for hearing unless the Court grants a party’s request for extension of time for good cause,” according to a statement from the court.
