Judge Berger will begin holding a monthly Expedited Miscellaneous hearing docket starting May 6, according to an April 23 announcement. The hearings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 PM and are intended to address certain time-sensitive matters efficiently.

The new docket aims to provide a dedicated forum for handling relatively simple but urgent cases. Eligible matters include motions to extend stay in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, debtor motions to sell, incur credit, substitute collateral, and motions for turnover in Chapter 13 proceedings. Other types of matters may only be added by special request if the court grants permission, though such requests are generally discouraged.

Cases not eligible for this expedited process include motions to dismiss, motions for relief from stay, claim objections, and all Chapter 11 matters. These issues will continue to be handled on regular dockets or on an ad hoc basis as appropriate.

The specific dates set for Judge Berger’s Expedited Miscellaneous Docket in 2026 are May 6, June 3, July 8 (notably moved from the usual first Wednesday), August 5, September 2, September 30 (an additional date), November 4, and December 2. All hearings will take place at the same time each month.

Updated hearing calendars reflecting these changes can be found on Judge Berger’s page at https://www.ksb.uscourts.gov/calendars-dockets.
