A federal grand jury in Wichita has indicted Janice Mae Brown, 39, of Russell, Kansas, on one count of acquiring a controlled substance by deception. According to court documents, Brown is accused of using her role as a pharmacy technician to remove amphetamine (Adderall) and methylphenidate (Ritalin) from her employer’s inventory without authorization between an unspecified date and March 2025.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is handling the investigation.

In related indictments, Miguel De La Cruz, 22, a Guatemalan national living illegally in Arkansas City, was charged with resisting, opposing, impeding, and interfering with a federal officer. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is investigating this case.

Additionally, Jose Garcia-Villa, 43, a Mexican national residing illegally in the United States, was indicted for illegal reentry after deportation. This case is also under investigation by HSI.

“An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
