A Missouri nurse has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Kansas, for allegedly obtaining controlled substances through deceptive means.

Court documents state that Brooke Haller, 40, of Kansas City, Missouri, faces four counts of possession of a controlled substance by deception and subterfuge. Authorities allege that Haller used misrepresentation and fraud to obtain Percocet and Oxycodone.

Haller appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Angel D. Mitchell on July 25, 2025. The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant U.S. Attorney Faiza Alhambra is handling the prosecution.

Officials emphasized that “an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
