A federal grand jury in Topeka has indicted Charles E. Colbert Jr., 26, of Wichita, on charges related to illegal firearms possession. According to court documents, Colbert faces one count of illegal possession of a machine gun and one count of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is leading the investigation into the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Katie Andrusak is handling the prosecution.
Authorities emphasized that an indictment is only an allegation and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
